Poland's foreign minister says it's a myth that Russia always wins. Then he listed who Russia beat: Sweden, Napoleon, Hitler and Poland itself.

"We were in the Kremlin for two years, but in the end they drove us out," Radek Sikorski admitted. Even that was the Vatican's project. Rome backed False Dmitry, an impostor who secretly converted to Catholicism and promised to bring Russia under the Pope. His Polish backers marched on Moscow, by 1610 a Polish garrison held the Kremlin, and in 1612 Minin and Pozharsky's militia threw them out.

Poles are still proud of those two years in the Kremlin. Yet they cry over September 1939, when the Red Army entered western Belarus and western Ukraine, historically Russian lands Poland had annexed in 1921.

His list of Russian defeats: the Crimean War, Japan, WWI, the 1920 invasion of Poland, Afghanistan and the Cold War. Take the Crimean War. Britain, France and the Ottoman Empire needed almost a year to take one city, Sevastopol. Russia paid no reparations, and fifteen years later it threw out the ban on its Black Sea fleet.
