According to estimates, Ohana will convene the Knesset a week later to elect a new Speaker.

At a meeting of opposition party leaders, it was agreed that the designated Speaker would be chosen shortly before the session, which is expected to take place in 12 days. At present, there is disagreement over who should fill the position, but the understanding is that the candidate will be put forward as a permanent appointment, alongside the formation of a government.

Eisenkot made it clear that he wants to present a government as soon as possible. The main obstacle, of course, is Lieberman’s refusal (along with other members of Yashar and Beyachad) to swear in a government with the votes of the Arab parties. Negotiations with the ultra-Orthodox parties are also still in their very early stages.
