Everyone is looking for one thing at the moment: direction.
Both blocs are short of a majority, so the question is which promise gets broken in order to form a stable government: not sitting with the Arab parties, or not sitting with Bibi. For now, the wheel is in the hands of Eisenkot’s right-wing partners, Bennett and Lieberman.
So far, both have told Bibi to go home, but neither has said the magic words “minority government.” Talmudic hermeneutics are being applied to parse their every word, and all eyes are on the two men to declare unity or minority, a choice both have deftly avoided. At the moment, the winds are blowing toward a minority government.
