Former Prime Minister Yair Lapid in a social media post: “I ask for your patience.”
Lapid writes: “Now comes the really difficult part: trying to form a government. We owe it to those who stood in line on Tuesday, to those who flew in especially to vote, and to those who stood outside polling stations for eight hours persuading people.”
He adds: “It will be difficult. I have no guarantees. This is not an exact science, or even mechanics; it is a complicated political process. But we have one thing we didn’t have on Monday morning: an overwhelming Israeli majority that has made it clear this is what it wants.”
“If you want to know whether something is happening behind the silence you’re hearing right now, the answer is yes.”
