Last month, our company commander, Major Harel Birenstock, of blessed memory, was killed in Lebanon.
Those who served under him know what kind of person and commander he was. He always led from the front, was there for others, and gave us the feeling that we could rely on him even in the most difficult moments.
Throughout it all, behind the uniform and the commander was his beloved family, who gave him his strength: his wife, Elia, and their four children, who now have to cope with a loss that cannot be put into words.
We want to be there for them, just as Harel was there for us.
We have launched a fundraising campaign to provide Elia and the children with some financial breathing room and security during this difficult and turbulent time, and to help them face the challenges that lie ahead.
