IDF Spokesperson:
IDF and Border Police forces operated overnight (Monday) in the area of the village of Jalud, in the Samaria Brigade sector, to disperse Israeli rioters and protect the village’s residents, while the coordinated return of a Palestinian family to its home in the village was underway. The family had been forced to leave its home following several incidents of nationalist-motivated crime against them. Due to the violence, the mission to return the family to its home was not completed.
More than 100 Israeli rioters were present in the village. They blocked roads, burned tires, and threw stones at security forces. The rioters also burned Palestinian structures in the village and set fire to vehicles and other property.
Three Border Police officers were lightly injured in the clashes, and a security forces vehicle was damaged.
The forces acted to disperse the gathering using riot-control measures and arrested two suspects, who were transferred for questioning by the Judea and Samaria District Police. Later, Judea and Samaria District investigators, together with forensic investigators and under IDF protection, will enter the scene to collect findings and evidence and take statements as part of the investigation that has been opened.
The security establishment strongly condemns any harm to security personnel while carrying out their duties, as well as acts of vandalism and damage to property.
Incidents of this kind divert attention, undermine stability, and impair the security forces’ defensive and counterterrorism operations.
