Prime Minister Netanyahu has consistently said, including directly to the ultra-Orthodox public in an interview, that ultra-Orthodox men must enlist in the military. Those who do not study Torah will serve in the army, and those who say, “We will die rather than enlist,” will go to prison.
While we will enlist 23,000 ultra-Orthodox men over three years, the left-wing bloc introduced a law that would enlist only 5,000. Behind closed doors, they are offering the ultra-Orthodox a complete exemption from military service on the condition that they bring down Netanyahu.
