*The National Fraud Investigation Unit (YAHA) in Lahav 433 has completed the investigation conducted regarding former Foreign Minister MK Eli Cohen, and regarding public employees from the ministry, on suspicion of offenses related to integrity.*
In January 2024, an investigation was opened by YAHA, with the approval of the Attorney General, on suspicion of breach of trust, against former Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and other senior officials from his ministry, in connection with the issuance of diplomatic passports to various individuals for improper reasons.
During the investigation, dozens of people were questioned, numerous documents were seized, and the investigation was accompanied by the Taxation and Economics Division of the State Attorney’s Office.
After completing all investigative actions, the Head of Lahav 433, Commander Meni Benjamin, approved and transferred the case summary to the Head of the Investigations and Intelligence Division (AH"M), Commander Boaz Balat, who approved the summary and instructed that the case be forwarded for the State Attorney’s Office’s review and decision.
