President Herzog, who was mentioned in a Haaretz report as having allegedly received a similar warning from the president of the UAE, issues a strongly worded denial:
“In response to reporters’ questions regarding the investigation by Shlomi Eldar and Ruth Yuval:
“The conversations President Herzog held with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, in the months preceding October 7 did not deal at all with security matters, Hamas, or Yahya Sinwar. The conversations concerned social and domestic issues in Israel and relations between the two countries.
“Accordingly, it should be emphasized that the President of Israel was unaware of the alleged warning and has no knowledge as to whether such a warning even existed.”
