Shas, in an official statement, distances itself from the rabbi’s remarks:
“The extreme statements that were heard last night against the Chief of Staff at the protest rally in honor of the Torah held in Bnei Brak do not reflect the views of our rabbis, the Council of Torah Sages, and are contrary to the path of the Shas movement as taught to us by our master, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef of blessed memory, and as was expressed in the speech of the Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, may he live long, during the rally.”
