Shas statement –

At the end of a long faction meeting: the Shas faction demands that the Basic Law: Torah Study, which is already on the Knesset’s table, be brought to a vote as early as this coming Wednesday.
Shas made clear in a letter that the approval of the law—which anchors the value of Torah study and elevates the status of Torah scholars—is a condition for continued support of the coalition’s legislative agenda.
“The time has come for a clear and unequivocal statement from the coalition about the central place of the Torah in the State of Israel.”
