The Movement for Quality Government, responding to the High Court of Justice’s decision requiring former Shin Bet officials to provide David Zini with their names:
The Movement calls on Shin Bet Director David Zini to act responsibly and announce that he is waiving his demand to receive the names of the 186 former Shin Bet officials who opposed his appointment. Insisting on revealing their identities deepens divisions within the service, undermines public trust, and distracts the organization from its vital security missions.
Revealing the names could open the door to a campaign of personal and professional retaliation against the petitioners simply because they exercised their right to petition the court. Zini must stop harming the Shin Bet and allow its personnel to focus on protecting national security. The Shin Bet must not become a tool for intimidating and persecuting those who criticize the government or the head of the service.
