The Prime Minister’s Office is publishing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s schedule on the morning of October 7, following inaccurate reports published recently:
06:29 – The military secretary informs the Prime Minister for the first time that there is an attack from the Gaza Strip.
06:44 – A second update call with the military secretary. The Prime Minister asks why nothing about this had appeared in the intelligence provided to him, requests that they examine whether a large-scale call-up of reservists is required, and whether it is possible to eliminate Hamas’s senior leadership.
07:30 – The Prime Minister departs for the Kirya after the Prime Minister’s convoy is prepared.
During the drive – The Prime Minister speaks with the Defense Minister, who informs him that there is no clear picture of the situation. The Prime Minister instructs that a situation assessment be convened in the command bunker under his leadership.
Around 08:00 – The Prime Minister arrives at the Kirya (08:22 according to Shin Bet records).
08:40 – The Defense Minister convenes the IDF Chief of Staff and the head of the Shin Bet to formulate a situational picture ahead of the discussion with the Prime Minister.
08:30–09:30 – The Prime Minister requests and receives intelligence updates and ongoing updates from the field from the military secretariat team.
09:47 – The Prime Minister’s military secretary receives for the first time the document from the situation assessment conducted by the head of the Shin Bet at 05:15 that morning.
09:55 – The Prime Minister holds a situation assessment in the command bunker attended by the Defense Minister, IDF Chief of Staff, Mossad Director, head of the Shin Bet, head of the National Security Council, and head of the IDF Operations Directorate. The Prime Minister instructs that the border line be hermetically sealed to prevent hostages from being taken into Gaza and to prevent further infiltration by militants; rejects the IDF’s recommendation for a partial reserve call-up and orders a full call-up; and instructs that a war order be issued and preparations made for the northern front.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Prime Minister holds a restricted security consultation with the Defense Minister and the IDF Chief of Staff.
