Many people are wondering if the current war with Iran is biblical.

Recent events only sharpen an assertion I have been making for the past few years:

Weakening the Shia axis of evil will not bring real peace. Rather, it will embolden the Sunni axis to make its move against Israel.

Syria is becoming the playground for this confrontation.

The annihilation of Damascus will be the catalyst for that move, as virtually every major regional player is now invested in what happens there.

So, is the war with Iran biblical?

It certainly plays a role in future biblical events.

Remember, Bible prophecy has nothing to say about nations and their affairs with one another unless those affairs ultimately concern, affect, or influence Israel.

The biblical focus has always been clear:

“When the Most High divided their inheritance to the nations,
When He separated the sons of Adam,
He set the boundaries of the peoples
According to the number of the children of Israel.
For the LORD’s portion is His people;
Jacob is the place of His inheritance.”
Deuteronomy 32:8-9 (NKJV)

In much the same way, World Wars I and II played a role in setting the stage for the fulfillment of the prophecies of Ezekiel 36 and 37 - the return of the Jewish people to their land from the nations where they had been scattered, persecuted, and massacred.

Not every war involving a biblical nation is itself the fulfillment of a biblical prophecy. But wars can reshape nations, alliances, and regional realities in ways that prepare the stage for what the Bible says will eventually come.

And that is exactly why we should be watching what is happening with Iran, Turkey, and Syria very carefully.
