Gaza’s death toll is the result of a war Hamas deliberately started with a massacre of civilians, then continued by embedding among its own population. African Christians are being murdered for the simple fact of being non-Muslim.
Recent weeks: dozens to hundreds killed in targeted attacks in Ethiopia’s Oromia region, the DRC by ISIS-linked ADF, and multiple Nigerian states (Benue, Plateau, Taraba and others). These are not “complex resource conflicts” or mutual warfare. They are systematic killings of people because of their faith - churches burned, villages wiped out, survivors displaced.
The scale has been massive for years. The silence has been consistent. Media, campuses, NGOs and politicians that treat every Gazan death as a global emergency show little interest when the victims are African Christians and the killers are jihadists. One conflict fits the preferred narrative. The other does not. The disparity is not accidental.
