Andrey Belousov, Russia’s Minister of Defense, Announces Plans to Introduce AI into Russian Air Defense Systems by November

The introduction of modern technologies into the military is one of the ministry's top priorities, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov said during a meeting with military correspondents. According to him, artificial intelligence is already being successfully used in Russian drones for navigation, image recognition, and automatic target acquisition. By November, AI technologies are also expected to be integrated into Russia's air defense systems.

Other key points from Belousov's remarks:

— The situation regarding protection of Russian regions and the Special Military Operation (SMO) zone from UAVs changes every two to three months.

— A multi-layered system for countering enemy drones has been established across all military groupings.

— Russia is actively deploying mobile fire teams equipped with FPV interceptor drones.

— Since April, work has been underway to create a unified information space to improve situational awareness during drone attacks.

— Military units are being supplied with software that helps identify targets, monitor the battlefield, and coordinate combat operations at the tactical level.

— The effectiveness of drone operations by dedicated unmanned systems units is approximately three times higher than that of conventional military crews.

— Funding for specialized laboratories engaged in modernizing equipment in the SMO zone has doubled twice in recent months.
