Vladimir Putin and To Lam took part, via videoconference, in the opening of a specialised laboratory to study and prevent infectious diseases, which is based at the Joint Vietnam - Russia Tropical Science and Technology Research Centre in Hanoi

Vladimir Putin: The launch of this joint hi-tech project is another vivid example of mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation between Russia and Vietnam and clear evidence of good progress in the strategic partnership between our two countries.

The Centre, a branch of the Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has been operating since 1988.
