❌China Cuts U.S. Treasury Holdings
China continues selling U.S. Treasuries. Its holdings fell to their lowest level since 2008.
Over the year, China’s holdings dropped from $731.4 billion in June 2025 to $633.4 billion in June 2026.
China once held the most U.S. government debt, reaching a record $1.13 trillion in February 2019. Japan took first place in June 2019 and remains the largest holder. China is now selling U.S. government debt and buying gold.
