The Bias That's Quietly Destroying Your Trading

There is a psychological concept called the Endowment Effect.

People tend to overvalue things simply because they own them.

In trading, this often happens with ideas.

You spot a setup, build a thesis, read supporting news, and open a position. At that point, the trade is no longer just a trade. It becomes your idea.

That's where problems begin.

Instead of reacting to new information, traders start defending their original view. They pay attention to news that supports the position and explain away anything that contradicts it.

The market doesn't care how much time you spent on your analysis.
It doesn't care how convincing your thesis was.
A trade can make perfect sense and still fail.

One useful habit is to ask yourself after every major market event:

"Does this invalidate my original trade idea?"

If the answer is yes, something needs to change.

The best traders are not the ones with the strongest opinions.

They are the ones willing to abandon those opinions the moment the evidence changes.

Trade what you see, not what you want to see.
