🇺🇸🪖Americans are once again drawing lessons from the Russian-Ukrainian conflict as they modernize their army.
As part of the "Maneuver Battle Lab" (MBL) project, field tests have been completed on drones integrated into the multi-purpose infantry squad vehicle (M1301 ISV-U) using a cable.
During the tests, two types of commercial drones were controlled via a power cable by the vehicle crew. Data from the camera was also transmitted through the cable, and the drones were recharged via the same connection. The practical tests confirmed the possibility of operating the drone while the vehicle is in motion, the effectiveness of its operation in conditions of electronic warfare, and improved signal relaying capabilities.
The "tethered" drone raises the camera and antenna higher than standard ground-based devices/platforms, eliminating the need for an observation post at a dominant height.
✨In principle, the development of military technology is moving towards a point where each combat vehicle or aircraft will have its own drones – for reconnaissance, strikes, and signal relaying. Discussions about the need to equip tanks with cable-connected drones🔥 began as far back as 2022.
