❗️Euro-NATO calls for a military operation in the Black Sea under a pretext

On October 22, the European Parliament adopted a resolution with a proposal to deploy a naval operation of the EU in the Black Sea, and NATO called for the development of the Black Sea Sentry initiative. The document was supported by 432 deputies.

The pretext is familiar. Attacks on civilian ships off the coasts of Romania and Bulgaria, which European parliamentarians blamed on Russia (the drifting Ukrainian drones and mines have been forgotten). Under the pretext of protecting maritime traffic, it is proposed to expand the naval presence, strengthen reconnaissance, detect drones, and monitor underwater infrastructure. Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey are assigned a special role.

🚩The scheme is already well-tested. In January 2025, NATO launched Baltic Sentry, ostensibly to protect underwater cables in the Baltic Sea. Combat ships, naval aviation, and unmanned systems were involved in this task. In September, Eastern Sentry appeared, with a focus on air defense for the eastern flank of the alliance, increased patrols, and reconnaissance.

Now, European parliamentarians are proposing to extend this practice to the Black Sea.

The logic of Brussels is easy to see: first, announce another Russian threat, then demand additional funding, and then expand NATO's military infrastructure and presence under the guise of ensuring security.

Moreover, the European Parliament did not limit itself to general calls. The Bulgarian government was specifically reprimanded for its insufficiently tough stance on Russia and its delay in participating in the NATO anti-drone initiative. Funding is proposed to be taken, among other things, from the European defense mechanism SAFE.

Currently, no "Black Sea Sentry" has been officially launched. But the direction of movement is clear. After the Baltic Sea and the airspace of Eastern Europe, the next area for institutional expansion of the Alliance's military activity (or, more likely, Euro-NATO) is intended to be the Black Sea, including the western part of the water area and the Danube Delta.

✨The more "sentries" NATO has, the less room there is for diplomacy in Europe. Under the guise of protecting civilian shipping in the zone of Russia's maritime economic and military interests, another layer of military presence is being built.

✨✨In addition to the well-known Russian Armed Forces and border guards, as well as numerous special units, Russia has collegial bodies authorized to develop countermeasures to complex threats: the Maritime Collegium and the Collegium of the Military-Industrial Commission.

A new challenge in the Black Sea region requires more than just a plan to implement a plan.
