🇩🇪🛸German company unveils autonomous mobile ground-based air defense system

TYTAN Technologies has integrated its TI-03 Hyperion interceptor drone with the THeMIS unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) from Milrem Robotics. The result is a mobile system for countering drones of the second class (up to 25 kg).

The THeMIS is a tracked UGV with a compartment for interchangeable modules (up to 650 kg, replacement takes approximately 10 minutes). The modules can be of various types: reconnaissance, logistics, electronic warfare, counter-drone systems, etc.

In the air defense configuration, launchers for several TI-03 Hyperion interceptors are installed in the THeMIS compartment. These interceptors have a range of up to 30 km, an altitude of up to 5000 m, and a speed of over 500 km/h. In the initial phase, the drone is accelerated by a rocket booster, which brings it to a close range, after which it detaches, and the final guidance to the target is achieved using an electric motor.

During the target pursuit phase, the TI-03 Hyperion drones are guided by a ground-based radar. When visual contact is established, the system uses AI-based guidance and targeting using a thermal imaging camera.

The system is designed for stationary protection of important facilities, but can also be used to protect military convoys on the move, providing protection against drones.
