On Friday, port workers in 111 ports across 22 countries and regions on five continents will conduct a coordinated strike against the war, completely halting the handling of military cargo and weapons.
More than 25 trade unions have already joined the action, from Marseille and Hamburg to Mumbai and Auckland. In France, port operations are expected to be paralyzed by 95%, while in Italy, India, Greece, and Turkey, protests will take the form of 24-hour strikes.
Participants are protesting against the escalation of conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, Israel's actions in Hebron with the support of the United States, NATO, and the EU, and are also advocating for their own safety, wage increases, and the protection of jobs from automation.
In Italy, the USB trade union has called for a nationwide strike and stated its willingness to face severe penalties, refusing to comply with the government's order for transport workers to return to work.
