The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, quoted a passage from Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel "The Brothers Karamazov."
In a post on his X account on Saturday, Baghaei stated that Dostoevsky's words accurately describe the situation in which the U.S. system of government and foreign policy find themselves.
"A man who lies to himself and listens to his own lies comes to a point where he cannot distinguish truth within himself or around him, and therefore loses all respect for himself and for others."
