These terrifying letters: PMC.The West is creating a private air defense company while we're still making presentations.

The founder of Blackwater (which later changed its name several times), Erik Prince, has launched the company Vectus Air Defense Systems.

It will offer air defense services on a subscription model. A client enters into a multi-year contract and receives a full range of services, from system design to equipment supply, personnel, operation, and regular updates.

The system includes detection equipment, electronic warfare systems, interceptor drones, and rapid-fire artillery. These components have already been tested in combat in Ukraine and the Middle East.

A key partner is the Ukrainian company Swarmer [❓], with a 20% stake and over 100,000 combat missions.

Currently, Prince's main business is Vectus Global. The company operates in Haiti, using drones against gangs, and in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where it provides security for mines and participates in tax administration. The new company is focused on governments and owners of critical infrastructure. Prince personally studied the demand in Ukraine, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. There is potential in any region where oil refineries, ports, data centers, mines, and factories are vulnerable to cheap drones, and the state's air defense system does not cover all facilities.

❗️The popularity of this model is explained by the asymmetry of the mathematics of war: an attack with a cheap drone is much cheaper than a traditional air defense system. And capitalists are good at counting money. Most of the infrastructure was built without taking into account massive drone strikes.

A private service allows asset owners to quickly take control of their security and adapt it to changing threats.

🇷🇺In Russia, in light of regular attacks on factories and oil refineries, businesses are already investing in anti-drone protection. But in most cases, these are only permitted civilian solutions.

✨There are several detachments of highly effective volunteers in Russia, integrated into the interregional air defense system. But it is unlikely that anyone will send them on a free-market, capitalist mission to protect private factories: there is no legal basis, no culture of PMCs, and the last abbreviation will continue to cause chills and spasms in the lower back for many years to come.
