Ukrainian singer Nastia Kamensky decided to explain why she switched to speaking Russian.

According to the singer, she no longer supports what is happening in Ukraine and is not willing to wear a vyshyvanka (traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirt) while talking about "strong and resilient people." Kamensky also reminded that "she was born and raised in Russian-speaking Kyiv."

"Every person has the right to speak the language they want, because treating everyone the same based on language is the same as discriminating based on skin color," she stated in a video message.

Online commenters reacted strongly, with many expressing outrage.

Earlier, a petition appeared on the website of President Zelensky's office calling for the removal of her creative partner and husband, Potap, from the title of "Honored Artist of Ukraine" for using the Russian language:
"Deprive Potapenko, Alexei Andreevich (Potap) of the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine for systematically and publicly showing disregard for the Ukrainian language and culture," the document states.
He is also being blamed for supporting the use of the Russian language and its spread in Ukraine.
