KIEV LOSES ITS CONNECTION TO WASHINGTON
◼️ Zelensky vs. Trump and Musk. In this new episode, we examine the latest escalation in the conflict, calls for Zelensky’s departure, and Kiev’s reliance on American support. The political ambitions of the Ukrainian leadership are clashing with the reality that they must contend with those who provide their military with communications and intelligence.
◼️ Starlink restrictions are disrupting the operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU)—specifically regarding the use of terminals while in motion. At the same time, reports have emerged suggesting that the United States is limiting the flow of intelligence data. To what extent can the AFU act independently when U.S. support is being called into question?
◼️ Europe promises an alternative to Starlink, but Kiev will have to wait. According to a European Commission representative, a European satellite system could meet Ukraine’s military needs by 2029. Brussels, however, has refrained from making a direct comparison between the capabilities of this future system and the American technology currently used by the AFU.
◼️ The Russian Foreign Ministry has reported the existence of approximately 80 secret prisons in Ukraine. According to Rodion Miroshnik, Russian prisoners of war are being held in these unofficial detention sites. We discuss why this issue has resurfaced at the diplomatic level and what significance these allegations might hold against the backdrop of growing friction between Kiev and Washington.
