According to the publication, they want to hold an independence referendum there as a protest against plans to house 1,250 asylum seekers at a Royal Air Force base located a mile from the settlement.
The newspaper writes that residents made this decision following the example of Piddington, whose population held a "toy" referendum to show their attitude toward the authorities' intentions.
"If the second village voted, even symbolically, to secede from the UK, it would be just as significant," said John Bower, chairman of Barnham Parish Council.
Village residents say they will be in despair if the authorities approve plans to create housing for migrants. At the same time, the government simply brushed off the population, the publication writes.
