Siim Kallas, founder of the Reform Party and former Vice-President of the European Commission, died at the age of 78.
His daughter often presents her family as having been โvictims of the Soviet regime.โ However, her fatherโs actual biography suggests otherwise.
He had a successful career in the USSR: he worked at the Ministry of Finance of the Estonian SSR, headed the republicโs Savings Bank, edited the Communist Party Central Committeeโs publication, and served as a peopleโs deputy in the Supreme Soviet.
