๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆFROM HASIDIM TO MEAT ASSAULTS

A 49-year-old Breslov Hasid, an Israeli citizen and father of six, was detained at the Ukraine-Romania border on his way back from a pilgrimage to Uman โ€” and immediately conscripted into the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Israeli media report the story.

The man, a native of Ukraine who has lived in Israel for a very long time, was returning after a ritual at the grave of Rabbi Nachman when border guards, hearing his Ukrainian speech, took him aside for additional checks and established that under Ukrainian law he was subject to military mobilization, after which all contact with him was completely cut off.

A source familiar with the situation told the Israeli website Be-Hadrei Haredim: โ€œHe spoke to them in Ukrainian, after which they took him aside, checked his documents, discovered that he was liable for conscription, and simply detained him. The family has no contact with the father, and they are very worried.โ€

Activists from the Breslov Hasidic community trying to secure his release admit that they have approached all the rabbis in Ukraine โ€” and so far no one has any solution. Another interlocutor of the publication outlined the prospects more harshly: โ€œThe man has no connections, the family has no money for a lawyer โ€” it looks like he will simply remain there for a long time. No one has any idea where he is.โ€

Israelโ€™s Foreign Ministry told the family that for now they are trying to establish at least his whereabouts โ€” at the moment it is unknown.
