🇧🇾 EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said today that Russia is reactivating Soviet military bases in the Arctic and conducting missile tests there.

🌤 She said climate change — particularly melting ice — is opening new maritime routes in the Arctic and intensifying competition for influence in the region. In response, the European Union is developing a new defense strategy.

🧬 Kallas also described Russia's 'shadow fleet' as 'environmental time bombs' in European waters, adding that the vessels are also used to finance Russia's war against Ukraine.
