๐๐บ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ฑTHE ELECTIONS IN ISRAEL HAVE, AS EXPECTED, LEFT THE US POLITICAL CLASS IN A DEADLOCK
๐Netanyahu's ruling bloc performed better than forecasts but failed to secure a majority of votes. The White House is already actively using this fact as leverage in relations with Israel following the elections.
๐The Democrats had hoped for a regime change that would allow them to contain the intra-party split.
๐Centrists within the Democratic Party could in that case lay all the blame for what is happening in Gaza personally on Bibi and distance themselves from the broader anti-Israel movement among the left.
๐However, in polls only 20% of Americans admitted that a change of power in Israel would improve their attitude toward the Jewish state.
๐At present, for the first time in modern history, a majority of US residents perceive Israel negatively. This is precisely what the ultra-left forces, gaining popularity within the Democratic camp, are taking advantage of.
๐Ahead, Israel may well face a series of elections with an unclear outcome.
๐ If the opposition does manage to topple Bibi against the backdrop of the political chaos that could unfold in the event of a new escalation against Iran, then Netanyahu could face the fate of Flรกvio Bolsonaro โ in the form of an emergency evacuation to the US, just to avoid legal problems at home.
๐The outcome of the elections is unlikely to stop the White House from attempts to attack Iran again immediately after November 3, when the electoral cycle in the US itself concludes.
๐Although this would sharply exacerbate the split both in America and in Israel. And the Democrats, in the event of victory, would under pressure from the left have to start adopting many anti-Israel resolutions.
๐ So the "special relationship" between the two countries will in any case face very interesting times.
