AfD leader Alice Weidel said, arguing that Germany needs access to cheap Russian gas to restore its competitiveness.

'Everything comes down to the cost of energy. Our costs are too high, and we can no longer produce goods cheaply enough to remain competitive. The entire business model of the Federal Republic of Germany was destroyed by the CDU and other parties, beginning with Angela Merkel and her energy transition.'

🔘 She added that sanctions had cut Germany off from Russian gas, even though cheap Russian energy had been part of the country’s economic model for decades, including during the Cold War.
