๐Ÿ•น Latest Patch Tuesday Update Gives Windows 11 Users Issues with Games

An issue has started after the August 11 KB5121003 update and has triggered game crashes, freezes, EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors and, in some cases, full PC reboots. It affects Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 systems updated to builds 26100.9168 and 26200.9168.

Most reports involve ARC Raiders, MARVEL Tลkon: Fighting Souls and The Finals. Microsoft is still looking into the cause and has asked affected users to file reports through Feedback Hub. The company is investing if it is exactly their code that causes the bug.

Embark Studios, the makers of ARC Raiders and The Finals, said the crash stems from a recent Windows change tied to the inpoutx64.sys file. The studio says it is working on a long term fix and shared a temporary workaround for players who want to keep gaming.

That workaround involves stopping and deleting the inpoutx64 service through Command Prompt, then removing inpoutx64.sys from C:\Windows\System32\drivers.

Users can also roll back to an older Windows 11 version until Microsoft issues an official fix.

The issue doesn't appear for everyone, but makes affected users not happy, especially owners of Dell laptops who could be already fed up with recent Windows updates.
