Microsoft has discontinued the Surface Go and Surface Laptop Go; existing stock remains at select retailers, but no new units or generations will ship. This follows the 2023 scale-back of the Surface lineup, which already saw the discontinuation of the Studio, Laptop Studio, Duo, Hub, Book, Headphones, and Earbuds.

The Surface Go's discontinuation is surprising given its popularity among business customers, leading to the Go 4 being a business-exclusive device. Microsoft initially planned a Surface Go 5 with an efficient Snapdragon processor but canceled it after corporate feedback indicated a strong preference against ARM-based devices.

For the Surface Laptop Go, users can switch to the base 13-inch Surface Laptop. This alternative resolves the Laptop Go's primary drawbacks: low display resolution and lack of keyboard backlighting.
