Give Claude and other AI agents read-only search over public Telegram channels.

Authentication

Send your API key in an Authorization header. It is the same key and the same daily quota as the REST API.

Connect

Claude (claude.ai and the Claude apps)

Open Settings → Connectors and choose "Add custom connector".
Name it OpenTG and paste the server URL.
Choose no sign-in, then add a request header named Authorization with the value Bearer followed by a space and your key.
Save, then ask a question in a chat. Claude calls the tools when it needs Telegram posts.

Tools and what they cost

A paid tool call costs exactly what the matching REST request costs. Every result ends with the units charged and the units remaining.

`get_usage`	free	Today's date (UTC), remaining quota and plan. Agents call it first.
`check_query`	free	Checks a search query for mistakes without running it.
`search_posts`	1	Full-text search over the last 30 days, newest first. A search over more than 7 days runs one week at a time, at 1 unit per week, so 30 days costs 4. Ask for one week to get just the newest posts for 1 unit.
`channel_posts`	1	One indexed channel's posts, newest first, including posts older than 30 days.
`find_channels`	1	Finds indexed channels by topic, language or size.
`get_channel`	1	One channel profile.
`get_post`	1	One post's full text, from its link.
`live_channel`	2	Reads a public channel live from Telegram, up to 100 posts.
`read_posts`	free	Full text of chosen rows from a page already fetched.
`more_results`	free	The rest of a page too long for one result.

Good to know

Every tool only reads. Nothing is posted or changed.
Post text is third-party content. It is cleaned and marked as data, not instructions, but an agent should still treat it as untrusted.
"Nothing found" means not found in the indexed channels over the last 30 days, not that it never happened.
On Starter and Pro, tool calls appear in your request log, marked as MCP.

Protocol

Streamable HTTP, stateless: JSON-RPC over POST, with no sessions. Supported protocol versions: 2026-07-28, 2025-11-25, 2025-06-18 and 2025-03-26.
