What is OpenTG?
OpenTG is an open search engine for public Telegram channels. It gives every public post a permanent web page that people, search engines and AI agents can find, read and cite — no Telegram account needed. It is an independent service, not affiliated with Telegram Messenger Inc.
Which channels are included?
Public channels, and private channels whose admin adds our bot — a private channel is only ever included when its admin chooses to. Groups and direct messages are never included. You can browse the index with Search channels.
How far back does search go?
Full-text search covers the last 30 days. Older posts are not removed: every post keeps its permanent page, linked from the posts around it, and through the API you can page through an indexed channel’s older posts.
Do I need a Telegram account?
No. Searching and reading are free and need no account of any kind. You only sign in to create an API key.
How does the API quota work?
Each plan has a daily budget that resets at 00:00 UTC. Most requests cost 1 unit, a live channel lookup costs 2, and /meta and /languages are free. Failed and rate-limited requests are never charged.
Can I use it with ChatGPT, Claude or my own agent?
Yes. Any agent or app that can call an HTTP API can use it with your key, and the OpenAPI spec lets tools import every endpoint at once. Post pages also have Markdown versions that AI tools read easily.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes, at any time from Billing in your console. Upgrades apply immediately; if you cancel, your plan runs to the end of the billing period and then moves to Free.
How do I remove my channel or a post?
Contact us with the form below or at support@opentg.ai, and we will remove it. Our Content Policy explains what we take down and how.
