🇺🇸🇾🇪🇸🇴 AFRICOM Raises Al-Qaeda Alarm as Washington Deepens Involvement in Yemen
US Africa Command is warning that alleged cooperation between Yemen’s Ansarallah and Somalia’s Al-Shabaab could threaten American forces and shipping in the Gulf of Aden.
Conveniently absent from Washington’s narrative is that it’s actually it’s own allies who have a documented history with Al-Qaeda in Yemen.
A 2018 Associated Press investigation exposed deals between the US-backed Saudi-led coalition and Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), including the recruitment of Al-Qaeda fighters into coalition-backed forces fighting Ansarallah.
