🇪🇸 Clashes in Spain as thousands protest Vox leader Santiago Abascal's rally in A Coruña
Around 5,000 people, according to police sources, gathered in the city's María Pita square on Wednesday against an event by Santiago Abascal, leader of the right-wing Vox party, which drew about 300 supporters.
The protest, called by student groups, the Galician nationalist youth organization Galiza Nova and a local tenants' union, stayed peaceful until Abascal's speech ended. Protesters then threw eggs and lighters at the police cordon, and riot police charged the crowd.
Two people were detained. Police say a dozen officers were injured, and several protesters were also hurt, at least one with visible facial injuries.
