🇫🇷⚔️🇫🇷 Limoges town hall still burning, bell tower collapses
Limoges, a city of around 130,000 in west-central France, has become one of the flashpoints of today's nationwide cost-of-living protests. Its town hall is still on fire, and the building's bell tower, the city's landmark, has just collapsed.
Around 50 people forced their way into the town hall at about 18:00 after the march turned violent, smashing windows and setting the ground floor on fire. Police cars were overturned and burned outside. The flames spread to the roof, badly damaging the council chamber, wedding hall and civil registry office.
The town hall dates back to 1883 and was modeled on Paris's Hôtel de Ville.
