Content Policy
The rules that govern what OpenTG indexes and how we moderate it.
What we index
- There are no restrictions around the content associated with the posts themselves, as long as they are not breaking any laws.
- Posts must contain more than 200 characters to be indexed.
- Forwarded posts are not indexed — only original content authored by the channel is included.
- Attachments (photos, videos, files, etc.) associated with posts are not stored on OpenTG.
- Both public and private Telegram channels are supported.
Subscription limits
Based on your subscription, OpenTG enforces limits on how many posts can be indexed per channel:
- Free: up to 50 posts
- Creator: 1 year worth of posts
- Pro: 5 years worth of posts
Limits apply on a rolling basis: once a channel reaches its cap, the oldest posts are removed (or hidden, for time-based plans) as new posts are indexed. Upgrading your subscription raises the cap and restores older posts where possible.
Edits and deletions
- Edits to posts on Telegram are automatically synced to OpenTG.
- If a post is deleted on Telegram, it will not be automatically removed from OpenTG. You need to contact support or manually hide it from the console.
Moderation
- The Content Moderation team has the right to hide any post it deems non-compliant.
- Anyone can report a specific post, which will force it to be reviewed.
- If content is deemed non-compliant, or if a channel accumulates a large number of reports, the channel can be terminated. The channel and all of its posts will be deleted, and payments will not be refunded.
