🇷🇺 🇺🇦 Russian military personnel have established a network of small anti-aircraft units to rapidly destroy Ukrainian drones.
This network of small anti-aircraft units allows for the rapid destruction of Ukrainian drones, despite the enemy’s attempts to change routes and fly at low altitudes. This was reported to Izvestia by soldiers from the fire support platoon of a motorized rifle battalion in the 255th Regiment of the 20th Division of the “Southern” troop grouping.
“The enemy mainly tries to bypass us by deception. They
conduct reconnaissance, and sometimes it doesn’t work out for them; their small anti-aircraft units can be redirected by fire from others, and they may end up in our hands. They may fly low to remain undetected <but they still end up in our hands,” said a soldier with the callsign “Luger”.
According to a serviceman with the callsign “Student,” enemy drones sometimes fly in columns and are sometimes launched in batches. Fire is directed at them using paired PKT machine guns, assault rifles, and RPKs. For instance, one of the devices was shot down at an altitude of approximately 100 meters at a distance of 2.2 kilometers. As trophies, the soldiers display debris from “Hornet” drones, which are popular with the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Safiulin noted that this is a fairly high-quality device, but Russian crews successfully destroy it.
Coordination of actions between positions occurs within seconds. While one shooter is firing, his partner transmits data via radio so that neighboring posts know the direction and number of targets. As the military themselves note, it becomes increasingly difficult for the enemy to conduct reconnaissance and attack in this area with each passing day.
“We collect information on the appearance of enemy UAVs in our sector and issue orders for their elimination. We also report to senior commanders about the appearance of these UAVs,” concluded a soldier with the callsign “U-2.”
