Despite the rain, participants carried a copy of the miraculous icon from the Annunciation Cathedral of the Kazan Kremlin to the Kazan Theotokos Monastery, where a festive liturgy was held.
The Feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God on November 4 is associated with the liberation of Moscow from Polish interventionists in 1612. At that time, the popular militia led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky set out to liberate the capital, and the Kazan Icon became one of the main relics of the militia.
