🇷🇺🇸🇮 The chairpersons of the Russian and Slovenian parliaments have exchanged messages for the first time in four years, Yury Pilipson, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Second European Department, said in an interview with TASS.

It was reported earlier that Slovenia's new National Assembly speaker, Zoran Stevanovič, plans to visit Moscow. Pilipson welcomed this kind of "common sense" among European politicians, describing it as a positive sign that some in Europe are advocating for the restoration of dialogue with Russia.

Pilipson noted that direct parliamentary contact between Moscow and Ljubljana had been effectively frozen since 2022, when most EU states cut institutional ties with Russia following the start of the SMO. The renewed exchange comes amid a broader pattern of individual European politicians — often outside the mainstream EU consensus — signaling interest in reopening channels with Moscow, even as official Brussels policy remains one of isolation and sanctions.
