🇺🇦🇺🇸 Zelensky on the US approving the sale of 500 Patriot PAC-3 missiles: thanks, but deliveries could take years
Zelensky thanked Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the State Department for the approval, calling it a "strong decision." Then came the catch: according to him, deliveries could start "ONLY IN A FEW YEARS."
He says Kiev had asked for a winter package of 100 Patriot interceptors a month, and that 500 missiles would have covered the coming months, "when it is so important for Ukraine to be in a strong position in negotiations."
His proposal: the US, European and other partners should hand over PAC-3s from their existing stockpiles now, during the winter of 2026–2027, and refill their own arsenals later from the newly contracted production paid for by Ukraine and its backers.
