India on October 3 summoned Pakistan’s Chargé d’Affaires in New Delhi and lodged a strong protest over what the Ministry of External Affairs described as the continued facilitation of illegal cross-border infiltration from Pakistan.
The move came after an incident on October 2 in Punjab’s Ferozepur sector, where the MEA said three individuals entered Indian territory and continued moving towards the border fence despite repeated warnings from the BSF to return. The BSF subsequently engaged them after assessing them as posing an imminent security threat.
India also rejected Pakistan’s allegations over the incident as “baseless and motivated.”
According to the MEA, the incident reflects a repeated pattern involving armed narcotics syndicates operating from Pakistan. India urged Pakistan to investigate the infiltration and drug-smuggling activities, ensure effective control over its side of the International Border, and prevent such incidents from recurring.
