Pro-Palestinian demonstrators confronted New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani at an October 7 remembrance vigil in Union Square over Israeli real estate events in New York City marketing homes in illegal West Bank settlements.
Organizers demanded action against the events, the removal of tax-exempt status from institutions hosting them, and the removal of NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch and disbandment of the Strategic Response Group.
Mamdani’s office has said he is “deeply opposed” to the expos and considers the settlement sales illegal under international law, but the city has not announced action against them.
