Poland’s police have deployed additional forces to the border with Russia’s westernmost Kaliningrad Region to carry out what the country’s authorities call an operation against acts of sabotage.
"The police are ensuring security [on the border] with the Kaliningrad Region in case of potential incidents that could lead to acts of sabotage," Polish police chief Marek Boron told the RMF FM radio station. "That is why reinforcements from police departments in several provinces have arrived at the border area."
Earlier, the Russian embassy in Warsaw pointed to increased jingoist rhetoric in the Polish media, in particular allegations about "potential acts of sabotage."
