A week ago, southern Lebanese young lady Israa Bahja her friends asked that this photograph be published if she were ever martyred.

And this is where we are now:

We take beautiful photographs of ourselves, knowing they may one day be placed beside our names on obituary notices.

We choose our smiles for the possibility of death.

What kind of life is this, where the young must think of how they wish to be remembered before they have even had the chance to truly live?
