Jared Kushner is the embodiment of everything rotten about the Trump family's "business as usual" approach to power from nepotism, opaque financial dealings, to staggering conflicts of interest and the apparent treatment of public office as a gateway to private enrichment.
Explosive new reporting claims that Dutch intelligence uncovered Kushner's access to secret Middle Eastern bank accounts containing hundreds of millions of dollars, alongside another account reportedly holding $1 billion.
The accusations raise disturbing questions about undisclosed financial arrangements, foreign influence and his dealings with powerful regional figures of the Gulf states while serving as a senior adviser in Trump's first administration.
These revelations point to the fact that Kushner failed to report those billions to the IRS, ergo violating American federal law.
The discussions about "reshaping the Middle East" make the implications even more alarming.
Who gets to shape the region's future when private financial interests, foreign rulers and unelected political insiders occupy the same room?
This is a question of accountability, sovereignty and whose interests American foreign policy actually serves.
The Trump family's business model has long invited scrutiny over the blurring of public power and private profit. These allegations take that concern to whole new level.
When power becomes a family business, corruption is no longer a scandal on the margins. It becomes a threat to the entire system. (May the system come down crumbling on their heads..usual prayer from a Lebanese southerner😅).
And it seems regional unelected rulers were doing their job pretty well. The Emirati and Saudi rulers are a textbook example of the colonial strategy of installing and cultivating compliant regional partners who serve the interests of external powers while presenting themselves as guardians of their own nations...yeah right!
They have invested in strategic alliances, security arrangements and grand promises of protection, yet when Iranian and Yemeni ballistic missiles exposed the vulnerabilities of their territories, an uncomfortable question emerged: what is the value of an alliance with colonial powers if those powers cannot guarantee the security they promise their most loyal regional partners?
These dictatorships have helped entrench a regional order shaped by foreign interests, while their peoples bear the consequences of decisions made in palaces far removed from ordinary citizens. A pawn may be rewarded while it remains useful, but it should never mistake its usefulness for sovereignty.
Colonial powers do not cultivate loyal servants out of affection; they cultivate instruments of influence. And when the instrument becomes expendable, all the grand rhetoric of partnership and protection can evaporate in an instant.
So tik tok⌛️ Yemen will discipline them all.
